Work continued this past week on the replacement of water and sewer mains at the 2nd Street and 2nd Avenue intersection and should be finished next week.

Underground storm sewer work will begin next week between 3rd Avenue and 2nd Avenue and the intersection of 2nd Street and 2nd Avenue.

Short interruptions in water service will occur during work on the watermain. Properties that will experience an outage have been notified. The contractor will also notify those property owners again at the time of the outage and when the water service is turned back on.

As a reminder, there will be limited street access in the areas where the contractor is digging.

Existing Watermain

July 20, 2022

This past week removal of blacktop, curb and gutter, and sidewalk on 2nd Avenue SE took place from Main Street to 3rd Avenue. Removals are necessary to access the underlying utilities and to establish a level and sturdy base for new aggregate and pavement which increases the lifetime of the pavement.

Replacement of watermain and sewer main (utilities) will begin next week. Connections will take place at both the 2nd Street and 1st Avenue intersection and the 2nd Street and 2nd Avenue Intersection. Replacing utilities reduces the risk of utility failures including water outages and sewage line clogs which lead to costly repairs and digging into the new roadway. While installing the utilities there will be limited street access in the areas where the contractor is digging.
